The short version

1. Information We Collect

ContactGroupQ does not collect any personal information. The app reads and writes contact groups directly to Apple's built-in Contacts framework on your device. This data never leaves your device through our app and is not accessible to us. We operate no servers, so there is nowhere for your data to be sent.

2. How We Use Your Information

Because we do not collect any data, we do not use, share, sell, or process any personal information. Every operation — grouping, searching, sorting, backing up, and restoring — is performed locally on your device.

3. App Settings and iCloud Sync

A few things cannot be stored in Apple's Contacts framework: which groups you marked as favorites, the folders you created, and the icons you assigned to groups. ContactGroupQ keeps these app-only settings on your device and, so that they appear the same on your other devices, in your own private iCloud key-value storage.

This data is stored in your personal iCloud account under Apple's terms, not on any server we operate, and we cannot read it. It contains only group and folder names, emoji icons, and display order — never phone numbers, email addresses, or any other contact details. Turning off iCloud Drive for ContactGroupQ in Settings keeps these settings on that device only.

4. Backups

ContactGroupQ can back up a group's members as standard vCard (.vcf) files. Backups are written to the app's private storage on your device. They are never uploaded, never synced to other devices, and are not accessible to us. If you enable the option to include contact photos, those photos are likewise stored only on your device.

A backup leaves your device only when you explicitly export it through the iOS share sheet — for example to the Files app, AirDrop, or email. You choose the destination, and what happens to the file afterwards is governed by the service you send it to. Deleting ContactGroupQ removes all backups stored inside the app.

5. In-App Purchases

ContactGroupQ offers an optional Pro upgrade as an annual subscription or a one-time lifetime purchase. All payments are processed by Apple through the App Store. We never see or receive your payment details, and no account or sign-up is created.

The app asks Apple's StoreKit whether your Apple Account holds a valid purchase and stores only that yes-or-no result on your device. Restoring purchases works the same way. Purchases and subscriptions are subject to Apple's privacy policy and terms.

6. Third-Party Services

ContactGroupQ does not integrate with any third-party analytics, advertising, attribution, or tracking services, and contains no third-party SDKs. The only external services involved are Apple's own — the App Store for purchases and iCloud for syncing the app settings described above — which are covered by Apple's privacy policy. The app may occasionally ask Apple to display the standard App Store review prompt; Apple handles this and shares no information about you with us.

7. Contacts Permission

The app requires access to your device's Contacts to create and manage contact groups. This permission is used solely within the app on your device. Both full access and limited access are supported. You can revoke this permission at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Contacts.

8. Data Retention & Deletion

ContactGroupQ does not maintain user accounts and does not store personal data on external servers. Your contacts and groups reside in Apple's Contacts app on your device, backups reside in the app's private storage, and app settings reside on your device and in your own iCloud storage.

To delete your data, remove the groups from within ContactGroupQ or from the Contacts app, delete any backups from the backup list, and then delete ContactGroupQ from your device. Deleting the app removes its backups and settings from that device. Settings already synced to iCloud remain in your own iCloud account, under your control.

9. Children's Privacy

ContactGroupQ does not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children under the age of 13. The app contains no data-collection mechanisms.
